Alberta "Bertie" Sturgill, age 93, of Sitka, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, November 1, 2025 at Paintsville ARH.

Alberta was born March 20, 1932 in Johnson County, Kentucky, daughter of the late Garfield and Effie Lee Castle Stambaugh. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death husband, Eugene Sturgill, three brothers, James Lindy Stambaugh, Martin Lonnie Stambaugh, and John Wallace Stambaugh, and three sisters, Avonelle VanHoose, Mary Katherine Stambaugh and Lydia Belle Stambaugh.

Alberta was a Lady Attendant for many years at Paintsville Funeral Home.

She is survived by one daughter, Patricia Shepherd of Sitka, Kentucky; two grandsons, Jason (Jennifer) Shepherd and Marc (Tiffany) Shepherd all of Sitka, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Brayden Kelly Shepherd, Riley Jayde Shepherd, Macie Ryan Shepherd, and Tinsley James Shepherd; and one brother, Garfield Clayton "Gar" Stambaugh.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2025 in the Tom's Creek Free Will Baptist Church with Chuck Slone and James Kelly Caudill officiating. Burial will follow at the Johnson County Memorial Cemetery, Staffordsville, Kentucky. Friends may visit the Jones-Preston Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at Tom's Creek Free Will Baptist Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m.
