Alene Castle Scarberry, age 88, of Paintsville, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2023 at her residence.

Alene was born February 27,1935 in Johnson County, Kentucky, daughter of the late Angus Castle and Mattie Louise Cantrell Castle. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James D. Scarberry, one brother, Billy Ray Castle.

She is survived by one son, Phillip D. (Beverly) Scarberry of Paintsville, Kentucky; two brothers, Bobby R Castle and Alvin Castle both of Nippa, Kentucky; one sister, Nancy Carol Grim of Nippa, Kentucky; one grandson, Jeffery (Nicole) Scarberry; two great grandchildren, Lexie Scarberry and Chloe Scarberry.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 31, 2023 in the Jones-Preston Funeral Chapel with Chuck Slone officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville, Kentucky , Staffordsville, Kentucky. Friends may visit the Jones-Preston Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 30, 2023 and 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 31, 2023
