Funeral: 1:00 p.m. Thursday,  October 10, 2024, at the Tom's Creek Free Will Baptist Church

Visitation: Wednesday, October 9, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at Tom's Creek Free Will Baptist  Church Family Life Center.

Visitation: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 10, 2024, until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at Tom's Creek Free Will Baptist Church.

Burial: Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville, Kentucky.

Alice Jewell VanHoose Stambaugh, age 90 of Nippa, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, October 6 at Bluegrass Hospice Center in Lexington, Kentucky.

Alice Jewell was born on March 14, 1934 in Paintsville, Kentucky. She was the only daughter of the late Estill "Yeller" VanHoose and Vonda Castle VanHoose. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Howard V. Stambaugh, daughter Glenda Grayson, brothers Edgar "Dick" VanHoose and Earnest "Ernie" VanHoose, sister in law Norma Jean VanHoose, grandson Paul Blair and special aunt and uncle, Ruth and Ed Mucklow.

She is survived by her two daughters, Karen Denise (Paul) Branham of Nippa KY and Deanna Ruth (Billy) Burke of Nippa, KY, and one son in law, Mark Grayson of Louisa, KY, one sister in law, Patty VanHoose of Versailles, KY.

Alice Jewell was referred to as Mamaw Hop to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Kraig (Christy) Grayson of Inez, KY, Kara Beth (Todd) Marcum of Inez, KY, Wesley Witten of Nippa, KY, Adam Ratliff of Wittensville, KY, Michelle (Virgil) Meyerhoff of Winchester, KY, Erica (Kip) Williams of Lexington, KY, Billy Tyler Burke of Lexington, KY; Great grandchildren Grant (Alison) Marcum, Lindsy (Drake) Muncy, Jenna, Allicen, and Marlee Grayson, Jon Wesley Witten, Gavin, Liam, Rory, and Aubrey Ratliff, Mason Williams, Hunter Gulley, Hope and Josie Meyerhoff.

Alice Jewell's life revolved around the Tom's Creek FreeWill Baptist Church, where she has been an active member for the past 50 years. She loved singing in the choir and sang every Sunday on the radio program until the time of her death. She regularly attended Sunday School, church, Wednesday night bible study and also was an active member of the Women Active for Christ Ladies Auxiliary, of which she was a former President. Alice Jewell was an inspiration to those who knew her through her love for Jesus Christ, her Church, and her Family.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 10, 2024 in the Tom's Creek Free Will Baptist Church with Chuck Slone, James Kelly Caudill, Larry Smith and Darrell Stepp officiating. Burial to follow at Highland Memorial Park.  Friends may call at the Tom's Creek Free Will Baptist  Church Family Life Center Wednesday, October 9, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.; and Thursday, October 10, 2024 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. at Tom's Creek Free Will Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Tom's Creek Free Will Baptist Church Building Fund, 81 Church Dr. Nippa, Kentucky, or by contacting Jones-Preston Funeral Home.
