Betty Ward Gartin, age 86, of Paintsville, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2021 in Lexington, Kentucky.

Betty was born January 12, 1935 in Johnson County, Kentucky, daughter of the late Benjamin Ward and Lou Ellen Reed Ward. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Junior Prater and Lorinza Ward and two sisters, Marie Kestner and Anna Tackett.

Betty was a retired teacher from the Johnson County School System.

She is survived by two daughters, Bobbie Gartin Kazee of Lexington, Kentucky and Merita Wilson of Paintsville, Kentucky; one sister, Kathy Adams of Staffordsville, Kentucky; seven grandchildren, Kayla Kazee, Hannah Kazee, Amanda Wilson, Megan Wilson, Kyle Adams, Jason Adams and Katie Adams Baldwin; and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 5, 2021 in the Jones-Preston Funeral Chapel with Larry Blair officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville, Kentucky. Friends may visit the Jones-Preston Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 3, 2021, 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, June 4, 2021 and 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 5, 2021.
