In celebration of a life well lived, Betty Evelyn Pelphrey McKenzie, age 93, Staffordsville, Kentucky passed away Wednesday October 12, 2022 at her home.
Betty was born April 23, 1929 in Johnson County, Kentucky, daughter of the late Challie Pelphrey and Malta Jewell Rice Pelphrey. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James O. McKenzie, daughter Katherine Hope Crigger, one sister Agnes Vanhoose and three brothers, Kelse Pelphrey, Robert Pelphrey and Jack Pelphrey.
She is survived by two sons, James I. McKenzie and wife Lois of Paintsville, Kentucky and Scott McKenzie of Lexington, Kentucky; son-in-law, Charles Crigger of Staffordsville, Kentucky; two sisters, Ruby Blanton of Van Lear, Kentucky and Mabel Hazlette of Hager Hill, Kentucky; one sister-in-law, Jenny Pelphrey of Staffordsville, Kentucky; s
even grandchildren, Dewayne McKenzie and wife Fallon, Corey McKenzie and wife Charity, Carla Bingham and husband Brandon, Dr. Mackenzie Crigger, Madison McKenzie, Ken McKenzie and John McKenzie; seven g
reat grandchildren are Baylee McKenzie Thompson, Baileigh McKenzie, Ryleh McKenzie, Taylor McKenzie, Conner McKenzie, Camdyn McKenzie, Aiden Bingham; and one great-great grandson, J W Thompson.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Little Mud Lick Church of God with Tobe Wheeler officiating. Burial will follow at Johnson County Memorial Cemetery, Staffordsville, Kentucky. Friends may visit the Jones-Preston Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 14, 2022 and Saturday at Little Mud Lick Church of God from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m.
