Bonita Haney Cook, age 63, of Van Lear, Kentucky, passed away Friday, April 21, 2023 at Pikeville Medical Center.

Bonita was born April 11, 1960, in Johnson County, Kentucky, daughter of the late of Franklin D. Roosevelt Haney and Emma Clida Hensley Bright. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one daughter, Marlena Michelle Haney Flinchum; one sister, Tina Louise Haney Miller.

She is survived by her husband, Ronnie Cook of Van Lear, KY; three daughters, Anita Cook Gilbert of Wittensville, KY, Rhonda Sue Cook Richmond of Paintsville, KY and Bonita Tanika Lashay Grass of River, KY; four sisters, Nickie Lynn (Ronnie) Wells of Staffordsville, KY, Christy (Will) Leedy of West Van Lear, KY, Lisa W. (Floyd) Rose of Louisa, KY and Dovanda (Jimmy) Mills of Tutor Key, KY; eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 27, 2023 in the Jones-Preston Funeral Chapel with Ray Pennington officiating. Entombment will follow at Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville, Kentucky. Friends may visit the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Tuesday, April 25, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2023 and from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m.
