Bonnie Music King of Nippa Ky died peacefully at home surrounded by family on September 18, 2026. Bonnie was born on February 28, 1939, in Nippa, Ky, to Rebecca Daniel Music and Richard Music. As the oldest daughter in a large family Bonnie learned the importance of creating a loving home filled with family, togetherness, and love—values she carried with her throughout her entire life.
On January 5, 1957, Bonnie married the love of her life, Harold Gene King. They shared 65 wonderful years of marriage and together they raised four children: David, Patti, Jane & Jim.
Bonnie and Harold spent 19 years living in Cleveland, OH before returning to Eastern Ky. There, they built their home on the very same land where Bonnie had grown up, bringing her life full circle and allowing her to remain close to the place and people she loved.
Bonnie had many interests that brought her joy. She absolutely loved to fish and would never pass up an opportunity to spend a day fishing with family. There was just one little rule when it came to fishing with Bonnie—she was not touching the worm or baiting her own hook!
She was a loyal Cincinnati Reds fan and watched every game she could. She loved spending time outdoors playing lawn games. She excelled at horseshoes and cornhole and was proudly known for being one of the first people chosen when picking teams.
She loved playing all kinds of card games and enjoyed challenging herself with puzzle books, especially crossword puzzles, Sudoku, and word searches.
On Mother's Day 2007, Bonnie was named “Mother of the Year" by the Paintsville Herald based on essays submitted by her 4 kids.
Bonnie was a proud member of Meades Branch Free Will Baptist Church in Louisa, Ky where her faith and church family were an important part of her life. She served in the ladies auxiliary for many years and helped to raise funds for many church projects.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband Harold, her parents, Rebecca & Richard Music ; her brothers, Rafael & Richard Scott; her sisters, Mary Castle, Barbara Nunn, Vertie Dean; and her beloved son, James Aaron.
She leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory, including her son, David and his wife, Crystal, of Blue Mound, Texas; her daughter, Patricia Bowen of Nippa, Ky; and her daughter, Jane and her husband, Joe Bolinsky, of Stow, Massachusetts.
Bonnie is also survived by her grandchildren Christopher, Ronald, David, Miranda, Sam, and Grace; her great-grandchildren Jacob, Hailey, Tyler, Wyatt, McKinley, Hudson and Amelia ; and seven great-great-grandchildren as well as her sister Charlotte Dixon of Canton GA, her brother Paul David of Cleveland OH and brother Denver Lee of Paintsville Ky as well as many nieces & nephews.
Bonnie will be remembered for the love she poured into her family, the home she created, her strong faith & her competitive spirit. Her family will forever carry the warmth of her love and the memories of a life devoted to family and togetherness.
Memorial services will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, September 26 at Meades Branch Baptist Church in Louisa, Kentucky.
