Burdis Mae Cantrell Spradlin, age 87, of West Van Lear, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, June 21, 2025 at Highlands ARH.

Burdis was born September 10, 1937 daughter to the late Mance and Ella Napier Cantrell. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Bud" Spradlin; son Larry Kenneth Spradlin; one granddaughter, Stacy Renee Spradlin; eight brothers, Cecil, Mitchell, Mance, Jr., Walter, Hershelle, Estill, Virgil, and Dember Cantrell; and two sisters, Mary Alice Cantrell Adams and Betty Ruth Hale.

She is survived by one son, Robert (Teresa) Spradlin, Jr. of Stambaugh, Kentucky; one daughter, Ginger (Michael) Arnold of West Van Lear, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Shawn Robert Spradlin, Rachelle Lynn Osborne, Oliver Lawrence Spradlin, Andrew (Andy) Spradlin, Deborah Elizabeth Weatherford and Tyler Spradlin; ten great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends that she loved very much.

Burdis was a Licensed Practical Nurse for 45 years and school nurse at JCHS for 4 years. Burdis started working at the Paintsville Hospital in different positions leading her to pursue a career in nursing by Dr. Paul B. Hall. Burdis loved everyone and always had a smile and hug for everyone.

Burdis was a member of Thealka Freewill Baptist Church for many years, joining the church in 1972. She enjoyed singing in church and always looked forward to attending church.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2025 in the Jones-Preston Funeral Chapel with Gary Blair, Meril Preston, and BJ officiating. Burial will follow at Johnson County Memorial Cemetery, Staffordsville, Kentucky. Friends may visit the Jones-Preston Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2025 and 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2025.
