Charles William Preston, age 86, of Boons Camp, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday evening, June 6, 2026 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on July 10, 1939 to the late Millard "Skinny Dock" and Mary Butcher Preston. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Judy Mollette Preston; one daughter, Mary Ethel Preston Mills; one son, Jerry William Preston; one great-grandson, Liam Bowen; one brother and two sisters.

Charles is survived by four children: Charles Edward (Beulah) Preston of Slemp, Lahoma (John) Cook of Boons Camp, Leslie Preston of Paintsville, Betty (Johnathon) Lowe of WhiteHouse; along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews all in which he loved dearly.

As a young boy Charles went to work in the crops in Buffalo, New York. To help ends meet for his family back home.

He returned home after four years and left once again to work in a plant nursery in Ohio.

He then returned home where he resided. He worked for Nim & Opal Sturgill delivering furniture and also done carpentry work for Tom Branham.

Charles was a family man. He had a bit of a wild side back in the day. He enjoyed hunting and trapping.

He enjoyed listening to his records of Dr. Hook, Hank, and Merle, just to name a few of his favorite music artists.

As Charles became older he found joy in feeding critters. Many a nights he could be found sitting on his porch with dog food in hand, feeding and petting "his coons".

He will be missed dearly by all. But the most by his family, whom loved him dearly. Though he may be gone from this earth, his family will make sure his sweet and kind spirit will never be forgotten and that his critters will never go hungry on Prestons Ridge.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 3 P.M. Tuesday June 9, 2026 in the chapel of the Jones-Preston Funeral Home with Kevin Hazelett officiating. Burial will follow at the Ballard Butcher Cemetery at Boons Camp. Friends may visit at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home from 3 P.M. until 8 P.M. Monday June 8, 2026 and on Tuesday from 11 A.M. until the time of the funeral services at 3 P.M.
