Darwin George Keneth LeMaster, 86, of Lawrenceburg formerly of Flat Gap, KY passed away October 28, 2024 at his home in Lawrenceburg. Born in Flat Gap, KY on June 14, 1938, Darwin was the son of the late Raleigh K. LeMaster and Jewell Evelyn Bailey LeMaster.
Mr. LeMaster served his country in the U.S. Navy and worked in a shipyard on the Eisenhower and the Nimitz Ships in Newport News, Virginia. After service he worked as a line engineer for Foot Hills Rural Telephone until his retirement. A current member of the Freedom Baptist Church in Lawrenceburg, he was a former member and deacon of Sugar Grove United Baptist Church in Johnson County, KY where he oversaw the building of the church. One of his enjoyments was fox hunting.
Mr. LeMaster is survived by his wife of 66 years, Betty Daniel LeMaster of Lawrenceburg; two children, Kim LeMaster Cox of Lawrenceburg and locally, Kenny (Debbie) LeMaster of Floyd County ; two grandchildren, Katy (Anthony) Smith of Tokyo, Japan and Gary (Celesta) Cox of Flat Gap; 6 great grandchildren; an honorary grandson, David (Nikki) Sagraves; and a brother, Keith (Brenda) LeMaster of Williamsburg, VA. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Ricky Cox and a brother, Lowell Allen LeMaster.
A time of visitation will be held on Thursday, Oct. 31st from 3 – 5 PM followed by the funeral service beginning at 5:00 PM Thursday at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home, 701 N. Main St., Lawrenceburg, KY. Bro. Steve Wells will officiate the service.
Burial with military honors will be held 12:30 PM on Friday, Nov. 1, 2024 at Camp Nelson National Cemetery, 6980 Danville Rd., Nicholasville, KY.
