David was born July 2, 1963, in San Antonio, Texas, son of the late James Harlan Stepp and Blanche Fisher Stepp.  David proudly served in the United States Army.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann Stepp, of Thealka, Kentucky; one daughter, Lacey Brooke Leckrone, of Paintsville, Kentucky;  one son, Nathan Curtis Castle, of Thealka, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Mia Leckrone, Tessa Leckrone, Jayla Stepp, Callie Campbell, and Peyton Mollett; one brother, James "Jimmy" Harlan (Deanna) Stepp, Jr.; two sisters, Cynthia Inez Stepp, of Roanoke, Virginia and Wendy Lynn Stepp, of  North Carolina; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 16, 2022, in the Jones-Preston Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in the Johnson County Memorial Cemetery, Staffordsville, Kentucky. Friends may visit the Jones-Preston Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, July 15, 2022 and 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 16, 2022.
