Dorsey Blanton, age 80 of Oil Springs, Kentucky, passed away Friday, October 9, 2020 at Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Pikeville, Kentucky.

Dorsey was born December 15, 1939 in Owen County, Kentucky, son of the late George B. and Rushia Jackson Blanton.

He is survived by his wife, Opal Lene Russell Blanton; one son, Greg Blanton and wife Jenny of Oil Springs, Kentucky; two daughters, Michelle Blanton Spriggs and husband James of Thelma, Kentucky and Dee Dee Blanton Wallen and husband David of Louisville, Kentucky; three brothers, Chalmer Blanton of Campton, Kentucky, Donald Ray Blanton of Carey, Ohio, and Ronald Blanton of Oil Springs, Kentucky; one sister, Juanita Rinehart of Missouri; five grandchildren, Tarah Spriggs, Tanner Spriggs, Mason Blanton, Blake Blanton and Parker Blanton; and one great granddaughter, Kaylee Spriggs.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2020 in the Jones-Preston Funeral Chapel, with Southie Fannin JR. officiating.  Burial will follow in the Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville, Kentucky. Friends may visit the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Sunday, October 11, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Monday, October 12, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday, October 13, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m.

Full military honors will be conducted by the Auxier Chapter 18 D.A.V.
