Herman Eddie "Jay" May Jr., age 43, of Flat Gap, Kentucky, passed away Thursday morning, October 23, 2025, at his residence.

He was born on March 8, 1982, in Johnson County, Kentucky, to Nadine Hayden May and the late Herman Eddie May Sr. In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by two nieces, Shay Gwinn and Alicia Gwinn.

On February 16, 2008, he married Alana Le Charles May, who survives.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by two daughters, Gracie Elizabeth May and Gemma Lynn May, both of Flat Gap, Kentucky; one nephew, Michael Gwinn and one niece, Kayla Gwinn, both of Paintsville, Kentucky; one sister, Amy Renee (David) Akers, of Flat Gap, Kentucky; one great-nephew, Isaiah Gwinn.

Memorial Services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 28, 2025, in the Jones-Preston Funeral Home chapel with Charles Crace officiating. Friends may visit the Jones-Preston Funeral Home on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at 1:00 p.m.
