Edna Grace Pelphrey Caudill, age 80, of Stambaugh, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, September 22, 2024.
Edna Grace Caudill was born on Easter Sunday, April 9, 1944 in Paintsville,
Kentucky. She was the daughter of the late Brooks Pelphrey and Swannie
Lemaster Pelphrey. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by
her father and mother-in-law K.C. Caudill and Hazel VanHoose Caudill: five
brothers, Jack Pelphrey, Kenny Pelphrey, Bob Pelphrey, William K.
Pelphrey, and James H. Pelphrey; two sisters, June Stapleton and Freda
Wooten; one sister-in-law Willadean Caudill.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Reverend James Kelly Caudill;
two sons, Jimmy Caudill and wife Laura of Stambaugh, Kentucky, and Billy
Caudill (Kathryn Parrish) of Nippa, Kentucky; two granddaughters, Kellee
Bevins and husband Joseph of Louisa, Kentucky and Allison Caudill of
Nippa, Kentucky; one grandson, Brett Caudill (Macy Conley) of Nippa,
Kentucky; three great grandchildren, James David Bevins, Kathryn Bevins,
and Emma Bevins all of Louisa, Kentucky; one brother, John G. Pelphrey
and wife Carol of Stambaugh, Kentucky; brothers-in-law, Morris Caudill,
Leroy Caudill and wife Geneva; sisters-in-law, Lois Osborne, Lexie
Pelphrey, Phyllis Pelphrey, and Bonnie Pelphrey; and special caregiver,
Debbie A. Burchett.
Edna Grace was saved and baptized in her early 20s in Dayton, Ohio. She
was a pastor's wife for 50 years. She devoted her life to putting others'
needs before her own. She was never one to want to be the center of
attention, but rather worked behind the scenes cooking or taking care of the
children. Several remember her driving them to head start in her
Volkswagen Beetle. Many times in her life she took care of the sick and
dying, making sure their needs were met. Only those closest to her knew
of most of these selfless acts. She will be remembered as a graceful,
elegant, wise, and godly woman who always put the needs of others above
her own needs. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
