Ernestine Osborne VanHoose, age 81, of Volga, Kentucky, former Johnson County Extension Office employee of 42 years, passed away Thursday, December 2, 2021 at Highland Regional Medical Center.

Ernestine was born March 1, 1940, to the late Fred Osborne and Alice Mae Salyer Osborne.  In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by one sister, Maxine Osborne Brown.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, James O. VanHoose; one sister, Beatrice Osborne of Paintsville, Kentucky; one sister-in-law, Janie Harlow of Paintsville, Kentucky;  four nephews, Donovan Chase Harlow, Landon Harlow, Phillip VanHoose, Rickey Harlow; two great nieces Isabella Harlow and Katie Harlow; and two great nephews, Chase Harlow and Landon Harlow.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Sunday, December 5, 2021 in the Jones-Preston Funeral Chapel with Johnny Estep, Phillip Keaton and Wendell Kelly officiating.  Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville, Kentucky.  Friends may call at Jones-Preston Funeral Home on Saturday, December 4, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, December 5, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m.
