Florence Bowens Wilcox, age 100, of Thealka, Kentucky passed away Thursday, December 14, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Florence was born June 30, 1923, in Johnson County, Kentucky, daughter of the Henry Bowens and Milla Castle Bowens.

She is also preceded in death by her husband, James Robert Wilcox; three sisters and three brothers; four sons-in-law, Earl Ward, John Doug Plummer, Gary Holbrook and Gene Castle; one grandson, William Roger Castle; one great granddaughter, Hayley Hudnall.

She is survived by one son, James Lee Wilcox of Thealka, Kentucky; four daughters, Linda Sue Hobrook of Wittensville, Kentucky, Kathy Ward of Sitka, Kentucky, Janna Reed and Kay Plummer both of Thealka, Kentucky. eleven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and 7 great, great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Saturday, December 16, 2023, in the Jones-Preston Funeral Chapel with Hubert Slone officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park, Stanfordville, Kentucky. Friends may visit the Jones-Preston Funeral Home from 12:00 noon until 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 15, 2023, and 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, December 16, 2023.
