Fred Banks, age 89, of Wittensville, passed away Thursday morning, October 29, 2026, at Mountain Manor of Paintsville.

He was born on January 10, 1937, in Letcher County, KY, to the late Clarence and Lida Lucas Banks. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Barker Banks; one daughter, Tabitha Banks; one grandson, Jonathan Banks; and three sisters: Kathleen Jones, Lorene Blair, and Audrey Bates.

Fred is survived by two sons: Mike (Donna) Banks of Whitesburg, KY, Freddie (Fayetta) Hunt of Woodstock, WV; two daughters: Diana Adams of London, KY, Tracey (Wallace) Mullins of Pound, VA; four sisters: Charlotte (Wayne) McDougal, Janice (Orbin) Slone, Geraldine Miles, Betty Lucas, all of Whitesburg, KY; along with several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and great friends.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 2 P.M. Sunday in the chapel of the Jones-Preston Funeral Home, with Tim Salyer officiating. Interment will follow at the Johnson County Memorial Cemetery in Staffordsville. Friends may visit at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home on Sunday from 1 P.M. until the 2 P.M. funeral service.
