Garold Wendell "Cowboy" Wells, age 76, of Van Lear, Kentucky, passed away Friday, May 23, 2025 at Paintsville ARH.

Garold was born August 18, 1948 in Johnson County, Kentucky, son of Genene Wells and the late Nevard Wells. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, Dwayne Wells.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Carol Sue Hall Wells; two sons, Wendell Lee (Kathy) Wells of Van Lear, Kentucky and Justin Blake (Brittany) Wells of Auxier, Kentucky; one daughter, Deidre Renae Blanton of Van Lear, Kentucky; and eight grandchildren, Hallanee (Johnny) Craft, Leannah Wells, Jacob Wells, Daniel Wells, Rebecca Wells, Journee Wells, Julionna Wells, and Josie Wells.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2025 in the Jones-Preston Funeral Chapel with burial to follow in the Wells Family Cemetery, Van Lear, Kentucky. Friends may visit the Jones-Preston Funeral Home from 12:00 Noon until 8:00 p.m. Monday, May 26, 2025 and 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2025.
