Gay Bailey Goble, age 90, of Flat Gap, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, August 31, 2023 at King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky.

Gay was born December 21, 1932 in Johnson County, Kentucky, daughter of the late Dow Stapelton and Alka Auxier Stapleton. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Bailey; son in law, Benjamin Cox; two brothers, Steven "Bus" Stapleton and Johnny Stapleton; one sister, Mary Lou Draughn; and one step daughter, Cathy Goble Gullett.

She is survived by her husband, Worth Goble of West Van Lear, Kentucky; daughter, Paulinda Bailey Cox of Staffordsville, Kentucky; two grandchildren, Aaron B (Gera) Cox of Lexington, Kentucky and Leslie (Derek) Jones of Louisville, Kentucky; six great grandchildren, Lucille, Silas, Hadley, Cecilia, Josephine, and Douglas Jones; two step daughters, Connie (Harold Dean) Meek and Chris (Malchom) Ratliff all of West Van Lear, Kentucky; one step son in law, Nelson Gullett of Paintsville, Kentucky; four step-grandchildren, Meme, Nelson Worth, Nick and Crystal; six step-great grandchildren, Jaxson, Meghan, Carson, William, Catie, Caleb and a host of extended family and friends.

Gay was member of Flat Gap Baptist Church and a retired school teacher in Johnson County.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 5, 2023 in the Jones-Preston Funeral Chapel with Johnny Estep officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville, Kentucky. Friends may visit the Jones-Preston Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday, September 4, 2023 and 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 5, 2023.
