Genene Wells, age 94, of Van Lear, Kentucky, passed away Monday, June 30, 2025 at Mt. Manor of Paintsville.

Genene was born December 13, 1930 in Johnson County, Kentucky, daughter of the late Willie Lee Wells and Lutie Collins Wells. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Nevard Wells; two sons, Garold Wells and Dwayne Wells; three brothers, Darrell Wells, Billy Gerald Wells, and Harold Wells; and two grandchildren, Kristopher Wells and Nevard Jackson Wells.

She is survived by two daughter in laws, Carol Wells of Van Lear, Kentucky and Geraldine Wells of Prestonsburg, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Wendell Lee (Kathy) Wells, Kimberly Wells, Deidre Blanton, and Justin (Brittany) Wells; ten great grandchildren, Logan Cline, Hallanee Craft, Keithen Harris, Leannah Wells, Jacob Wells, Daniel Wells, Rebecca Wells, Journee Wells, Julionna Wells, and Joise Wells; four nephews Billy Wells, Kevin Wells, Darrell Wells, and Scott Wells; and one niece, Norma Wells.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 3, 2025 in the Jones-Preston Funeral Chapel with Rod Wells officiating. Burial will follow at Wells Family Cemetery, Daniels Creek, Van Lear, Kentucky. Friends may visit the Jones-Preston Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2025 and 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 3, 2025.
