George Lowell Quillen, age 85, of Somerset, formerly of Paintsville, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2026, at the Jean Waddle Care Center in Somerset.

He was born on June 18, 1940, in Neon, KY, to the late William Herbert and Thelma Gay Harlow Quillen. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Sue Johnson Quillen; one son, David Richard Quillen; two brothers: William Herbert Quillen Jr., Jimmie Gordon Quillen; two sisters: Janet Tackett and Carrie Barker.

He is survived by two sons: Scott Gregory (Debora) Quillen of Somerset, James Lowell (Jennifer) Quillen of Somerset; one brother, Donald Wayne Quillen of Columbia, TN; one sister, Ann McGeorge of Lexington, along with six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 11 A.M. Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at the Tom's Creek Free Will Baptist Church with James Kelly Caudill officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Memorial Park Cemetery at Staffordsville. Friends may visit at the Church on Wednesday from 10 A.M. until the time of the funeral services at 11 A.M.
