Helen Jean (McDowell) Boyd of Mansfield, Ohio passed away on December 22, 2022, at the age of 85. She was born on May 27, 1937, in Boons Camp, Kentucky to the late Alice (Walters) and Everett McDowell.

Throughout her life, she loved to travel, spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, work on genealogy with her grandson, and play card games saying, "When it comes to cards, I don't know you," which was always in good fun. Helen lived a full life and leaves a legacy that will forever be remembered by those that knew and loved her.

Helen is survived by her four children, James (Janice) Boyd, Donna (Dirk) Macco, Jean Collins and Joan (Michael) Young, nine grandchildren, Amanda and Sarah Boyd, Danielle (Justin) Thoune, Dianne (Adam) Menor, Kara and Kelly Collins, Jesse, Justin (Sierra) and James Henry, Courtney and Jennifer Young, many great-grandchildren, and one sister, Ella Glass.

In addition to her biological parents, Helen was preceded in death by her adoptive parents Lizzie (Walters) and Elijah Staniford, Jr., her loving husband of 49 years James "Jim" Douglas Boyd, brothers Elijah Staniford, III and Everett Ray McDowell, son, Mark Alan Boyd, and grandsons, Daniel James and Douglas Alan Boyd.

A private service for the family will be held this spring. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made in Helen's honor to the Arthritis Foundation at https://www.arthritis.org/honor-memorial-form.
