Helen Louise Pinson, 60 passed peacefully into the presence of the Lord at 4:08am on Thursday, February 1, 2024 in her home at Mountain Manor of Paintsville.

Helen is survived by her two sisters, Mary Laura Pool (Bob) of Spring, TX and Loretta P. Belhasen of Paintsville KY. And her Uncle Warnie Pinson (Rita) of Inez, KY; three nieces Sherrie Moore (Earl), Kelly Pinson Singleton (Steve), and Sarah Belhasen Woods (Clyde); seven nephews Larry Charles (Dee), Eric Charles (Mary), Frank Belhasen ll, David Pinson, Joe Pinson (Sandy), Steven Clay Turner, and William Turner (Ella) and several great nephews and great nieces; her day-care sitters and friends Tonya Sexton, Donna Childers, Sherri Wheeler, and Teresa Stafford along with her extended family of staff and residents at Mountain Manor of Paintsville where she lived for the past 1-1/2 years.

Helen is preceded in death by her parents Conrad Sr. and Georgia Helen Pinson; two brothers Conrad Pinson, Jr. (Jeanne), and Robert Barrett Pinson (Karen); her sister-in-law Faye Pinson and her nephew Brian Keith Pinson.

Born with Down Syndrome, Helen loved to write her numbers and letters, crochet, study her Bible, go to church, sing in the choir, clean house and eat out.

Helen Louise Pinson was born January 3, 1964 in Williamson WV at Memorial Hospital, locally known as "the hospital on the hill".  Aunt Helen loved to tell the story of her brother coming to take her home from the hospital on the hill to Buskirk, KY when she was a tiny baby.  She grew up and lived in that house with her parents at Buskirk until she was 53 years old with her parents then her brother Robert and sister-in-law Karen.   Aunt Helen was born with Down Syndrome and needed adult supervision and care all of her life.

After Aunt Helen's brother Robert passed away and her sister-in-law Karen's subsequent debilitating illness, Aunt Helen came to live with her niece Sherrie and nephew-in-law Earl on November 15, 2016.  She thrived in all areas of her life mentally, physically, emotional and spiritually for 6 years living with Sherrie and Earl before needing the skilled nursing care provided by Mountain Manor of Paintsville.

Aunt Helen loved her family.
She could remember and name them all at a young age. She could be found often at the kitchen table in Buskirk, KY looking through a big box of photos of aunts and uncles cousins, nieces and nephews. She could tell anyone who wanted to know the names of everyone in the photos and how they were related to her.

Aunt Helen loved Jesus and her church family.

She attended First Baptist Church Paintsville with Sherrie and Earl. She sang in the choir and made a joyful noise in worship to God with all her heart.

Aunt Helen loved "the Commission"",  her name for the Highland Church of Christ mission store where she volunteered each Tuesday with her sister Loretta and two of her sitters Donna and Sherri until it closed.

Aunt Helen loved Ivan Parker.
The gospel singer came to First Baptist for a singing event and Aunt Helen became his biggest fan. According to Helen he would have become her husband if he hadn't already been married.

Aunt Helen loved weddings.

She talked about what her own wedding would be like, about being married, having two children and keeping house.  Her wedding day was planned and rehearsed many times.  She had her wedding dress and 100 bridesmaids.  Shauna Patton was her cake maker and Bro. Seth was performing the ceremony. Her brother-in-law Bob Pool, whom she called "Daddy" was going to"throw her away".  All she had left to do was find her a groom.

If you knew Aunt Helen, know that she loved you too.

Aunt Helen was a blessing to all her family and friends.  She is already greatly missed this side of Heaven.

If she could speak to us now, she'd say, "I fine!"

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00  p.m. Monday, February 5, 2024 at First Baptist Church with Seth Carter officiating with  burial to follow at Pinson Cemetery, Radio Hill Road, McCarr, Kentucky. Friends may visit the First Baptist Church from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. February 5, 2024
