Hulda Jane Meade VanHoose, better known as Janie, age 63, of Sitka, Kentucky, passed away Friday, September 13, 2024 at her daughter's home.

Jaine was born April 27, 1961 in Johnson County, Kentucky, daughter of the late Ernie Meade and Eliza Betty Cantrell Meade. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Gary VanHoose and three sisters, Brenda Kaye Meade, Bernice Meade and Rachel Jean Jackson.

She is survived by one daughter, Kim (Kenny) Tackett of Staffordsville, Kentucky; four brothers, Manuel Meade of Oil Springs, Kentucky, Stevie Meade and George Meade both of Ohio; three sisters, Ida Meade of Ohio, Gracie Burchett of Floyd County, Kentucky and Wilma Staniford of Staffordsville, Kentucky; two grandchildren, Jessica Maire (Billy Fields) Tackett and Brian Matthew Tackett; one great grandson, Bryson Grant Fields; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 17, 2024 in the Jones-Preston Funeral Chapel with burial to follow in the White Pines Cemetery, Daniels Branch, Sitka, Kentucky. Friends may visit the Jones-Preston Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, September 16, 2024 and 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 17, 2024.
