James M. Blanton, age 87, of Oil Springs, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, January 20, 2022, at his home.

James was born January 3, 1935 in Johnson County, Kentucky, son of the late Manford and Estalona Williams Blanton. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by 21 siblings.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Caudill Blanton; two sons, Timothy D. Blanton and James Larry (Stephanie Bain) Blanton all of Oil Springs, Kentucky; two daughters, Kathie Ann Blanton (Gerald) Evans and Valerie Jean (John) Dalton all of Oil Springs, Kentucky; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Sunday, January 23, 2022 in the Jones-Preston Funeral Chapel with Gerald Fairchild officiating. Burial will follow in the Manford Blanton Cemetery, Oil Springs, Kentucky. Friends may visit the Jones-Preston Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday, January 22, 2022 and 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, January 23, 2022.

Full military honors will be conducted by Salyersville Chapter 15 DAV.
