James V. "Catfish" Reed JR., age 68, of Meally, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2026 at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, KY.

He was born October 13, 1957 in Paintsville, KY to the late James V. Reed SR. and Estelle Tackett Reed. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister and brother in law, Brenda (David) Allen.

On April 16, 2003 in Scottsville, KY, he married Tena Pedigo Reed who survives. Additional survivors include one son, Alfie Reed (Shannon Combs) of Meally, KY; two step-sons: A.J. (Heather) Biddle of Scottsville, KY, Josh Biddle of Scottsville, KY; one step-daughter: Miranda Akins of Russellville, KY; Additional step-children include three step-daughters: Linda (Chris) Blackburn of Inez, KY, Tammy (Robbie) Cooley of Morehead, KY, Chrissy (Dale) Smith of Sandy Hook, KY; one brother: Ray (Angie) Reed of Maysville, KY; two sisters: Norma (the late Gene) Bingham of River, KY, Stella (Jaggu) Reed Nanduri of Liberty Township, OH; childhood friend: Duke Lemaster of Martin, KY; four granddaughters: Zoey Brock, Penny Brock, Autumn "Peanut" Brown and Lindsey Penix; one grandson: Owen Biddle; along with several additional grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 1:00 PM Thursday March 26, 2026 in the chapel of the Jones-Preston Funeral Home with Denvil Mollette officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville, KY. Friends may visit the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Wednesday March 25, 2026 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Thursday from 11:00 AM until the time of the funeral services at 1:00 PM.
