Burial: Castle Family Cemetery, Nippa, Kentucky

James Ashland "Hog" Castle, age 84 of Meally, Kentucky, passed away Friday, July 3, 2020 at Mountain Manor Nursing Home in Paintsville, Kentucky.

He was born August 18, 1935 in Johnson County, Kentucky, son of the late Jonah Castle and Edna Adams Castle. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Jr. Castle, David Castle, Wilbur Castle, Billy Castle, one sister, Lobeta Spradlin, and one step great grandchild, Madilyn Walters.

He is survived by two daughters, Monie Rose Mullins and husband Richard of Van Lear, Kentucky and Verronda K. Castle and Glenn Lewis of Holdenville, Oklahoma; two step daughters, Carey and Dennis Patel of Williamsport, Kentucky and April Chandler of Lexington, Kentucky; one step son, Joey Stambaugh and wife Paula of Paintsville, Kentucky; five sisters, Mildred Faye Lyons of Nippa, Kentucky, Sandra Kaye Schmitt of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Brenda Rose Watson of Dayton, Ohio, Janice Bone of  Wabash, Indiana and Lorraine Castle of Lexington, Kentucky; two grandchildren, Casey Leonard and wife Ashley and J.J. Simmons; four great grandchildren, Casey James Leonard, Cooper Dean Leonard, Jaxson Jaimes Simmons, and Jacey Jean Simmons; seventeen step grandchildren, Kayla Waller, Kelsie Hill, Alex Stambaugh, Jordan Walters, Anna Adams, Dustin Adams, Dylan Adams, Michael Adams, Ethan Adams, Jacob Patel, Cameron Patel, Caleb Patel, Whitney Ward, Brittany Blanton, Kyle Blanton, Lexi  Blevins and Breanna Blevins; seven step great grandchildren, Taylor Walters, Isabella Walters, Jayden Sloas , Reagan Adams, Wyatt Johnson, Nevaeh and Mason Ward his beloved dog, Susie "Killer" Castle; along with a host of family and special friends that will miss him.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 6, 2020 in the Jones-Preston Funeral Chapel Bryan Ray Auxier and Amy Chapman officiating.  Burial will follow at Castle Family Cemetery, Nippa, Kentucky. Friends may visit Jones-Preston Funeral Home Saturday, July 4, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, July 5, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p. m. and Monday, July 6, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at  1:00 p.m. at Jones-Preston Funeral Home.

Auxier Chapter 18 D A V will conduct full military honors on the day of service.
