James O. VanHoose, age 87, of Volga, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2022, at King's Daughter Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky.

James was born July 18, 1935, to the late Proctor and Hazel VanHoose.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Ernestine Osborne VanHoose; three brothers, John M. VanHoose, Phillip R. VanHoose, and Larry G. VanHoose.

He is survived by one sister, Janie Harlow of Paintsville, Kentucky; two nephews, Phillip VanHoose, and Rickey Harlow; one niece, Barbara Jean VanHoose Bath; three great-nephews, Donovan Chase Harlow, and Landon Ray Harlow, and Johsua VanHoose; three great nieces, Isabella Harlow, Katie Harlow, and Shalean Lawson.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 9, 2022, in the Jones-Preston Funeral Chapel with Johnny Estep, Denvil Mollette, and Wendell Kelly officiating.  Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville, Kentucky.  Friends may call at Jones-Preston Funeral Home on Monday, August 8, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday, August 9, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m.
