James Garrel Williams, age 80, of Sitka, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at his residence.

He was born on October 23, 1945, in Paintsville to the late Taylor and Gladys Frazier Williams. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sons: Gerald and David; two brothers: Doug and Paul; and three sisters: Clara Susan, Emma Katherine, and Dixie Mae.

On April 25, 1998, in Gatlinburg, TN, he married Mary Williams, who survives.  Additional survivors include one grandson: Brent Allen (Charlene) Williams; two brothers: Gary (Pat) Williams, Lowell Williams; one stepson: Chris (Pam) Slone; two stepdaughters: Valerie (Danny) Music, Dana (Robie) Mullins; five step-grandchildren: Jenna, Joseph, Jackie, Jesse, and Justin; along with five step-great-grandchildren.

Garrell was saved on May 22, 2018, and was baptized on June 9, 2018. He remained a faithful member of the Cold Springs United Baptist Church until his passing.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 1 P.M. Monday, June 22, 2026, in the chapel of the Jones-Preston Funeral Home with Jamie Slone, David Trimble, and Cecil Adams officiating. Interment will follow at the Highland Memorial Park Cemetery at Staffordsville. Friends may visit at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home from 2 P.M. until 8 P.M. Sunday, June 21, 2026, and on Monday, June 22, 2026, from 11 A.M. until the time of the funeral services at 1 P.M.
