Janet Fay May Ward, age 78, of Mascot, Tennessee, formerly of Paintsville, KY, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2023 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, TN.

Janet was born February 15, 1944 in Johnson County, Kentucky, daughter of the late McConnel May and Mary Sue Preston May.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Iasic Ward, one brother, Paul David May, and one sister, Alkie Elizabeth Salyer.

She is survived by three sons, Sonny Isaac (Patsy) Ward of Paintsville, KY, McConneal (Tina) Ward of Mascot, TN, and Jerry Mason (Audrey) Ward of Dandridge, TN; four daughters, Dorrena Sue Compton of Mascot, TN, Mary Ethel (Russell) Ward of Sitka, KY, Melissa Jean (Ben) Clifton of Van Lear, KY, and Elizabeth Ilene Colvin of Maysville, KY; one brother, John Walter (Katrina) May of Louisa, KY; two sisters, Linda Jean of Columbus, OH, and Connie Preece of Staffordsville, KY, twenty grandchildren, Sonny Ward II, Ryan Ward, David Ward, Rayvon Ward, Angel Ward, Brian Austin Ward, Shaunnie Ward, Maesie Humphrey, Frank Clifton, Hattie Clifton, Lily Hesson-Ward, Brently Hesson-Ward, Darcey Hesson-Ward, Dessa Colvin, Jeremiah Colvin, Billy Colvin, Brady Hale, Jordan Perkins, Megan Perkins, and Addison Murphy, thirteen great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 16, 2023 in the Jones-Preston Funeral Chapel with John Walter May officiating. Burial will follow in the Lakeview Memorial Cemetery, Staffordsville, Kentucky. Friends may visit the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Wednesday, February 15, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Thursday, February 16, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m.
