Jerry Edwin Arnett, age 76, of Van Lear, Kentucky, passed away Friday, October 28, 2022 at Staffordsville, Kentucky.
Jerry was born October 11, 1946 in Magoffin County, Kentucky, son of the late Clay Arnett and Maudie Howard Arnett Flint. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by wife, Zandra Kindle Arnett; one sister, Sally Wireman; two brothers, Morris Arnett and Ray Arnett; and two brothers-in-law, Dirl Wireman and Everly Wheeler.
He is survived by his daughter, Arrena (Shawn) Murphy of Palm Bay, Florida; two brothers, Curt (Jean) Arnett and Sideny (Barbara) Arnett of Wabash, Indiana; two sisters, Lillian Wheeler and Sandy (Don) Lewis of Staffordsville, Kentucky; two sisters-in-law, Pauline Arnett of Wabash, Indiana and Dorothy Arnett of North Liberty, Indiana; two grandchildren, Brandon (Kristin) Holbrook of Bryan, Ohio and Makita Wallen of Palm Bay, Florida; two step grandchildren, Amanda Cain of Ranson, West Viginia and Megan (James) Mondshour of St. Cloud, Florida; six great grandchildren, Payten Hall, Talon Holbrook, Brighton Holbrook of Bryan, Ohio, Madalynn and Robert of Ranson, West Virginia, and James IV of St. Cloud, Florida; also three special caregivers, Anthony "Tater" Bain, Joyce Prater, and Kim Bain; along with a host of nieces and nephews.
Jerry was a wonderful husband, dad, papaw "pap", "lil" unc, brother, and friend to all he met. He loved his family more than anything. If you knew him, you loved him. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran and an electrician in the coal mines. He was a faithful Christian and attended Eastside Freewill Baptist Church when he was well enough to go.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 1, 2022 in the Jones-Preston Funeral Chapel with Harry Neal Frisby officiating. Burial will follow at Wheeler Family Cemetery, Crockett, Kentucky. Friends may visit the Jones-Preston Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 31, 2022 and 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 1, 2022.
Full military honors will be conducted by Auxier Chapter 18 DAV.
