John Mark Trimble, age 96 was born January 10, 1927 in Barnett's Creek, KY. He passed away March 25, 2023 at his home, 108 Euclid Avenue, Paintsville, KY in the presence of his family. The son of Bruce C.Trimble and Norsie Reed Trimble, John Mark was raised in Barnetts Creek, Kentucky.
John Mark is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Janet Marsh Trimble, whom he married on February 10, 1956, his sisters Georgene Trimble McKenzie, Lorene Trimble Carney, brothers Davis Reed Trimble, Granville C. Trimble, and Paul Wade Trimble.
He is survived by his four children, Mark Wesley Trimble (Teresa), Ann Wade Trimble Wallen (Charlie), David Lawrence Trimble (Christy) and Phillip Lee Trimble (Debbie), 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews that were very dear to him. Not to forget the many other family members and friends which were the light of his long and exceptional life. John Mark attended Oil Springs Elementary and High School, served in the Army with service in Europe near the end of World War II, and graduated from Morehead State University.
He taught briefly in the public schools, owned several Paintsville businesses, was active in the Chamber of Commerce, and was a member of the Paintsville First United Methodist Church where he served as an usher for many years.
John Mark had many friends and knew many others by name - something that endeared him to those he met. He relied upon his Christian faith to guide his life and it was very common for John Mark to spend Sunday afternoons visiting the sick and those in nursing homes. He never met a stranger but if he did they weren't a stranger for long. Since his passing we have heard several say… "He was so easy to love". He loved people.
John Mark had a wonderful, long life, and lived it well.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the First United Methodist Church in Paintsville by contacting Jones-Preston Funeral Home at 606-789-3501.
