Lana Jane Womble (LeMaster), 79, of Oil Springs, KY, passed away peacefully in Miami, FL, on February 3, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Born and raised in Kentucky, Lana later moved with her mother, Grace, to the Washington, D.C. area before settling in Miami, FL. Despite her travels, her heart always remained in Kentucky.

Lana was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend who will be remembered for her independence, determination, compassion, and dedication to family, values she instilled in her daughters. She had a deep appreciation for the simple joys in life: the warmth of a handmade afghan, the comfort of a good book, and the delight of a cold Milky Way and Coke. She loved baking brownies and cookies, sharing her creations with those she cared about. Her love of nature and animals was evident in the way she cherished the world around her.

Lana also had a passion for music and found joy in playing her favorite songs loud on her stereo, filling her home with energy and life.

Professionally, Lana worked for the FBI before continuing her career at Florida International University, where she made a lasting impact.

Lana was preceded in death by her sister, Wilma Faye; her parents, Grace and James LeMaster; and her grandparents, Hollie and Nancy LeMaster.

She is survived by her daughters, Stephanie M. Womble (Michael Kunert) and Sheila Y. Womble (Tom Scicluna); her beloved grandson, Adam Scicluna; and many other loving family members and friends, including Glenn Womble of Miami, FL, and Garry Venters of Jacksonville, NC, as well as numerous cousins.

Visitation and services will be held on Thursday, February 12 at 10 a.m. at Jones-Preston Funeral Home in Paintsville, KY. Burial at the LeMaster  Family Cemetery in Oil Springs will immediately follow the service.

Lana's warmth, kindness, and love for life will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
