Lonnie Bracken Salyer, age 70, of Wittensville, passed away peacefully at his residence on Monday, August 25, 2025, after a lengthy illness.

He was born on April 19, 1955, in Paintsville to the late James and Celia Wooton Salyer. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Lynn Stapleton Salyer, the mother of his children on January 29, 2009.

On November 22, 2014, in Keaton, he married Laverna Legg Salyer, who survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons: Bracken (Amanda) Salyer of Huntington, WV, John Michael (Jennifer) Stapleton of Stambaugh, KY; two daughters: Jamie (Blake) Burchell of Georgetown, KY, Tiffany Noel (Scott) Hensley of Tutor Key, KY; one brother: Tim (Tona) Salyer of Flat Gap, KY; six grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Lonnie was a retired door greeter with Walmart. The family always enjoyed the countless stories they heard in the community about customers lining up before or after their shopping to have the opportunity to speak with Lonnie. His kindness and personality touched the lives of everyone he came into contact with.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 P.M. Friday, August 29, 2025, in the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the J.A. Salyer Cemetery at Flat Gap. Friends may visit the Jones-Preston Funeral Home from 4 P.M. until 8 P.M. on Thursday, August 28, 2025, and from 11 A.M. until the time of services at 1 P.M. on Friday. A masonic service will be conducted by the Chandlersville Masonic Lodge #858 at 7 P.M. on Thursday.
