Mary Jean Newsome Grimm, age 82, of Abbott Creak, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2023 at her home.

Mary was born March 20, 1941 in Floyd County, Kentucky, daughter of the late Ralph Newsome and Lula Reynolds Newsome. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by five sisters, Alicetene Ward, Christina Simpson, Vada Sue Sauvage, Mary Lou Walters, and Ruth Ann Williams.

She is survived by her husband, Johnny Grimm, Jr.; three sisters, Barbara (Cornelius) Tuttle, Prestonsburg, Kentucky, Brenda (Mike) Henson of Auxier, Kentucky and Dottie (Ronnie) Spradlin of Denver, Kentucky; one brother, Ralph Newsome, Jr. of McDowell, Kentucky; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 7, 2023 in the Jones-Preston Funeral Chapel with Claude Mollette officiating. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Gardens, Prestonsburg, Kentucky. Friends may visit the Jones-Preston Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, November 6, 2023 and 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 7, 2023. Church service will be held Monday, November 6, 2023 at 5:00 p.m.
