Maxine Yates, age 75, of Oil Springs, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at Paintsville ARH.

Maxine was bornMarch 17, 1948 in Johnson County, Kentucky, daughter of the late Payne Rice and Ethel May Rice. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Howard Chat Yates I, one son, William Yates, one daughter, Natasha Yates, and two brothers, J. Fred Rice and Kevin Rice.

She is survived by one daughter, Camilla O'Bryan of Oil Springs, Kentucky; two sons, Howard Chat Yates II of Richmond, Kentucky and Mike Yates of Oil Springs, Kentucky; two brothers, Payne Rice, Jr. and Phillip Rice both of Oil Springs, Kentucky; five sisters, Edna Mae Dunn of Paintsville, Kentucky, Joyce Reed of Salyersville, Kentucky, Debbie Sowards of Flat Gap, Kentucky, Jodie Music and Georgia Music both of Oil Springs, Kentucky; two grandchildren, Kayla Fitch and Lauren O'Bryan; and four great grandchildren, Jace, Avery, Shae and Maddox.

Private Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Rice-Yates Family Cemetery. Friends may visit the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Friday, January 26, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be at Rice-Yates Family Cemetery, Oil Springs, Kentucky
