Michael "Fridge" O'Neal Johnson, age 51, of Paintsville, Kentucky, passed away  Saturday, June 29, 2024 at Paintsville ARH Hospital.

Michael was born April 23, 1973 in Pikeville, Kentucky, son of Margaret Ann Coleman Johnson of Pikeville and the late Mike "Crackers"  Ray Johnson.

Michael was a retired Correctional Officer at USP Big Sandy and previous Lieutenant for Johnson County Sheriff's Office. He was a guitar and music enthusiast and played for Sons of FM.  Michael could be found on a ball field, fishing, playing music, or shooting guns.

Other than his mother, he is survived by his loving wife Melissa Michelle Hayslett Johnson of 18 years, six children; Joshua Michael (Ashley) Johnson of Ivel, Jordan O'Neal (Kaitlyn) Johnson of Raccoon, Lauren Faith (Colton Kiser) Johnson of Clintwood, Virginia , Michaela Grace Johnson of Paintsville, Alexander Bryce Johnson of Paintsville, and Abigail Hope Johnson of Paintsville; one sister, Angela (George) Knipp of Frankfort, four grandchildren; Riley Blair Johnson, Lucas Alan Kiser, Lainey Kate Johnson, and Henry Joe Johnson.

Michael was preceded in death by his father and brother, Jeremy Scott Johnson.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 4, 2024 in the Jones-Preston Funeral Chapel with Aaron Penix officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Cemetery, Staffordsville, Kentucky. Friends may visit the Jones-Preston Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2024, 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2024 and 11:00 a.m. until time of service Thursday, July 4, 2024 at 1:00 p.m.
