Opal Blair Castle, age 90, of Flat Gap, Kentucky, passed away Monday, April 6, 2026 at Mt. Manor of Paintsville.

Opal was born May 8, 1935 in Johnson County, Kentucky, daughter of the late Lester Blair and Merzie Montgomery Blair. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Castle, one son, Keith Castle, and one sister, Pat Proffitt.

She is survived by one daughter, Christine Castle of Flat Gap, Kentucky; two sons, David Castle of Flat Gap, Kentucky and Phillip Castle of Paintsville, Kentucky; three brothers, Larry Blair, of Paintsville, Kentucky, Gary Blair of Meally, Kentucky and Jim Blair of Paintsville, Kentucky; five sisters, Herma Pelphrey of Paintsville, Kentucky, Mary Sue Dodds of Circleville, Ohio, Maxine Spradlin of Flatwoods, Kentucky, Sharon Fraley of Michigan, and Loretta Daniel of Paintsville, Kentucky; and one grandson, Chase Castle.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2026 in the Jones-Preston Funeral Chapel with Larry Blair officiating. Burial will follow at Johnson County Memorial Cemetery, Staffordsville, Kentucky. Friends may visit the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Tuesday, April 7, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday, April 8, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m.
