Rita Carol Salyer Cantrell, age 75, of Staffordsville, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, January 30, 2022 at Paintsville ARH.

Rita was born November 5, 1946 in Johnson County, Kentucky, daughter of the late Simmie Oaklay Salyers and Ethel Pauline Tackett Salyers. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Eugene "Gene" Cantrell, three brothers, and five sisters.

She is survived by two sons, James Harold Cantrell of Staffordsville, Kentucky and Micheal "Mikey" Douglas Cantrell of Staffordsville, Kentucky; three daughters, Gena Carol (Gordon) VanHoose of Tutor Key, Kentucky, Chrystal (Charles) Jaynes of Thelma, Kentucky and Amanda Marie (Jeff) Baldridge of Staffordsville, Kentucky; eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 3, 2022 in the Jones-Preston Funeral Chapel with Ralph Cordle and Jeff Baldridge officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville, Kentucky. Friends may visit the Jones-Preston Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 1, 2022, 12:00 Noon until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 2, 2022 and 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 3, 2022.
