Ruel Nelson Osborne, age 89, of Wittensville, Kentucky, went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Wednesday, June 24.  He was born October 1, 1930, in Paintsville, Kentucky, and is the son of the late Walter and Ethel (Castle) Osborne.

Ruel, a 20 -year veteran with the United States Air Force, served during the Korean and Vietnam era.

After his military career, he returned home, and worked for the Johnson County School System as a bus driver.    Ruel thoroughly enjoyed his retirement and spending time with his family, taking long country drives, riding his ATV well into his eighties, singing gospel songs, and bird watching.

Ruel is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Wanda (Tackett), one brother David (Willa Dean-deceased) Osborne, five devoted children: Kathy (Carl) Strout, Sherry (Larry-deceased) Blackburn, Mark (Julie) Osborne, Sheila Davies, Ruel (DeeDee) Osborne, and seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ruel was preceded in death by his sisters Marie Osborne, Lula (John) Burns, Dorothy (Les) Rose, Goldie (Wallace) Adams, Hermalee (Junior) Murphy and brothers Walter (Dorothy) Osborne, and Buel (Norma) Osborne.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 27, 2020 in the Jones-Preston Funeral Chapel with James Kelly Caudill officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park in Staffordsville, Kentucky. Friends may visit the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Saturday, June 27, from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m.  Please join family and friends for food and fellowship at the Toms Creek Freewill Baptist Church after burial services.
