Ruth Smith Castle Reed, age 81, of Nippa, Kentucky, passed away Friday, November 22, 2024 at Community Hospice Care Center.

Ruth was born November 28, 1942 in Johnson County, Kentucky, daughter of the late James Smith and Margaret Laney Smith. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Floyd Castle and second husband, Willie Reed, brothers, John Smith, George Smith, Bill Smith, and Ben Smith and two sisters, Alifira Castle and Marie Tackett.

She is survived by a niece who was like a daughter, Sharon Blanton; step son, Rick Reed; step daughter, Lisa Dempsey; and host of additional nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 24, 2024 in the Jones-Preston Funeral Chapel with Larry Smith and James VanHoose officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville, Kentucky. Friends may visit the Jones-Preston Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Saturday, November 23, 2024 and 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 24, 2024.
