Sandra Kay Childers, age 74, of Martin, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at the Salyersville Nursing and Rehabilitation, Salyersville, Kentucky.

Sandra was born June 7, 1948 in Floyd County, Kentucky, daughter of the late Leo Clouse and Eula Wright Clouse.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James David Childers, one son, John Childers and one brother, Michael Clouse.

She is survived by one daughter, Deborah Childers of Martin, Kentucky; two brothers, Bobby Clouse (Judy) of Michigan, Tommy Clouse of Floyd County, Kentucky; three sisters, Ethel Clouse of Floyd County, Mary Murphy (Tommy) of Wayland, Kentucky and Emma Clouse of Michigan; six grandchildren, Shala Childers (Eric) , John Childers, Samantha (Ryan) Portwood, Hope (Alan) Maggard, Heather (Kyle) Childers and Luke Childers, and several great-grandchildren.

Sandra truly loved her pets and spoiled them like no other. If you went to lunch with her you were going to be sitting in the back seat because her fur baby would always get the front.

She was well known for her Bologna salad and it has to be said that she had the best in the state of Kentucky.

After getting her Cosmetology license, Sandra worked at Walmart for many years and then found her place at the Triangle Market. That is where she was a cashier for over 20 years. She never met a stranger and her smile would brighten up anyone's day. Everyone knew who Sandy was at the Triangle Market.

She was a great mother, grandmother, and sister and she will be forever missed.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 7, 2022 in the Jones-Preston Funeral Chapel with Ray Davis officiating.  Burial will follow at Buckingham Cemetery, Hi Hat, Kentucky.  Friends may visit the Jones-Preston Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 6, 2022, and 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 7, 2022.
