Sardis Noel Hitchcock, born April 3, 1932 of Volga, KY passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at Mt. Manor of Paintsville, KY under Hospice Care.

Sardis was born April 3, 1932 in Johnson County, KY to the late Cecil and Susie B. Hitchcock.  He is preceded in death by his late former wife, Mildred Hitchcock and daughter Nina Marie Ratliff.  Also four brothers; his twin brother, Hardis Joel Hitchcock, Larry Hitchcock, Carmel Hitchcock, and Ruby Barton Hitchcock, and he wanted to mention a half-brother, Dallas Salyer.

He is survived by one sister, Esther Gail Brown of Sierra Vista, Arizona, two sons, Bruce Michael and wife Janie Hitchcock of Hager Hill, KY, Lee Allen and wife Jennifer Hitchcock of Volga, KY, and one daughter, Vicky Lee Fannin and husband Billy also of Volga, KY.

He had four children, Michael, Allen, Nina, and Vicky.  Sardis also had six grandchildren, Randy, Matthew, Brian, Nicki, Shayla, and Jordan, and six great-grandchildren, Madison, Peyton, Dalton, Mahallie, Ayden, and Bentley, and several nieces and nephews.

Sardis was a truck driver and ran a small junkyard.  He would move people from place to place in the 50's for people moving to work in Ohio.  Sardis himself moved to Ohio in the 50's for work and worked at US Gypsum and Celetex plants that made sheetrock.  He got married and moved back to Kentucky around 1960 to help his family on a dairy farm.  He also did logging, worked for Hardware Charlie gas company delivering gas, and drove a truck for Williams Wholesale delivering goods.  His last job he worked for was Johnson County Road Department for eight years grading roads.

Sardis was a loving father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend.  We the family feel that our loss will be shared by all those who knew and loved him.  He will forever live in our hearts and will never be forgotten.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 25, 2023 in the Jones-Preston Funeral Chapel with Denvil Mollette officiating.  Burial will follow in the Brown Cemetery on McKenzie Branch, Flat Gap, KY.  Friends may visit the Jones-Preston Funeral Home from 12:00 Noon until 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 24, 2023 and 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 25, 2023.
