Burial: Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville, Kentucky

Scarlet Rowland Murray, age 70, of Thelma, Kentucky, passed Monday, July 13, 2020 at Baptist Health, Lexington, Kentucky.  Scarlet was born April 7, 1950 in Johnson County, Kentucky, daughter of the late Henry Rowland and Faye Childers Rowland. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one sister, Connie Ratliff.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Roger Murray whom she married on October 18, 1969. To this union were born, one son, Rev. Willard Westley Murray and wife Kimberly of Duncan, South Carolina and one daughter, Tara Murray Ward and husband Jamie of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky.

Also surviving are, two sisters, Neva Rowland of Paintsville, Kentucky and Laura Caudill and husband Jimmy of Stambaugh, Kentucky; one brother, Jack Rowland of Thelma, Kentucky; one brother-in-law, Alvin Ratliff of Morehead, Kentucky; and three grandchildren, Nathaniel David Ward, Heather Danielle Ward and Bryson Alexander Murray.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 17, 2020 at Southside Freewill Baptist Church, Paintsville, Kentucky with Wayne Price and Isaac Rowland officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville, Kentucky. Friends may visit the Southside Freewill Baptist Church Thursday, July 16, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Friday, July 17, 2020 from 12:00 Noon until time of service at 1:00 p.m. at Southside Free Will Baptist Church.
