Obituary of Sherry Castle

Sherry Castle, age 72, of Flat Gap, KY, passed away, Sunday, July 2, 2023 at her home.

Sherry was born May 27, 1951 in Neon, Kentucky, daughter of the late Jesse E. Wright and Julia Cook Wright. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by three sisters, Joyce Ann Davis, Patricia Sue Playforth, Gwenda Leah Castle and one brother, Jesse D. "Cowboy" Wright.

She is survived by her husband, James E. Castle; one daughter, Leah D. Murray and husband Mark of Wittensville, Kentucky; one son, Wade Castle and wife Betty of Flat Gap, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Katie Carrico and husband Daniel, Olivia Murray, Macy Mills and husband Matt, and Luke Murray; two great grandchildren, Cullen and Fletcher Carrico; two sisters, Sharron Faye Riddle and husband Allen of Lancaster, Kentucky and Cinda Carol Brown of Melbourne, Florida; one brother, Barry Wright and wife Sheree of Neon, Kentucky; one brother-in-law, Freddie Castle of Berea, Kentucky; one sister-in-law, Dotty Wright of Neon, Kentucky; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Celebration of Life will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 4, 2023 at Southside Free Will Baptist Church with Wayne Price officiating. A time of reflection will be from 11:30 a.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 4, 2023 at Southside Free Will Baptist Church.

Eulogy of Sherry Castle

Sherry was blessed to be one of the daughters of Jesse E. Wright and Julia Cook Wright born on May 27, 1951. She truly felt she had the best of parents. They taught her love, kindness, generosity, honesty, and always encouraged her to do her best in everything she attempted. Sherry had seven brothers and sisters, they were all very close and that carried over into adulthood as well. Each of her relationships with her siblings was unique because of the many age differences, each one became special at different stages in her life. Sherry told many friends that even though miles separated them, each was just a phone call away and they all remained close.

Sherry married her high school sweetheart, James E Castle on Sept 6, 1969. Like any marriage, they had their ups and downs and many health issues to overcome, but they would have been married fifty-four years this September, another milestone to celebrate. Sherry and James were blessed with two children, Leah and Wade. They have four grandchildren, Olivia, Luke, Katie, and Macy. Sherry was blessed to be able to see two great grandsons, Cullen and Fletcher. Sherry was thankful to have the in-laws that she had and knew that God answered prayers for both of her children to marry the one that truly loves them and the companions that God intended for a wife and husband to be. She was thankful for Betty and Mark and thanked God that her children were truly happy.

Sherry loved family get-togethers, dinners, game nights, and visiting with her family. She loved being outside, working in her flowers, pulling weeds, and was always excited to tell how many rose buds were on her rosebush and yes, she counted them. She loved to travel and she and James spent many winters in Fl. She loved the beach and soaking up the sunshine. Sherry also enjoyed painting, she discovered that she had a unique artistic ability while taking painting classes in Florida.

God blessed Sherry all of her seventy-two years and he never left her through the many trials and sicknesses in her life. Sherry even thanked God in early 2012 after being diagnosed with cancer because she said it made her a bolder witness to others about all of the things God had done for her. She met so many wonderful people along her cancer journey and never failed to tell them about the love of God and his plan of salvation. Sherry was rich with family and many friends, and so thankful for each one as well as all of her brothers and sisters in Christ.

Sherry felt she was rich with God's blessings in this life, but nothing can compare to the riches she entered into Sunday afternoon. She would often talk about how she couldn't wait to see her heavenly father and all of the questions she wanted to ask…., surely you didn't think the questions stopped here.

Sherry wanted to thank each of you that helped celebrate her life, whether it be in person, or otherwise. She was so thankful for all the wonderful prayer warriors she was blessed to know. Her heart's desire was for all her family and friends to be saved and know that she would see them again one day. She always said, "I love you, but 'GOD' loves you more."
