Steven Craig Carter, age 63, of Myrtle Beach, SC, formerly of River, the former owner/operator of "The Black Barn," passed away on Wednesday afternoon, July 1, 2026, at his residence.
He was born on August 9, 1962, in Baltimore, MD, to the late Alfred and Aileen Anderson Carter.
On May 31, 1995, in Staffordsville, he married Marla Clark Carter, who survives. Additional survivors include two daughters: Shana Carter of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Amanda (Nelson) Culley of Roanoke, VA; one sister: Lisa (Joe) Abbatello of The Villages, FL, along with their son Joseph; one sister-in-law: Teresa (Don) Spradlin of Nicholasville, KY, along with their daughter, Halley; three grandchildren: Roxanne, Finn, and Olivia; and a special friend John Bussey.
Graveside Funeral Services are scheduled for 11 A.M. Monday, July 6, 2026, at the Evans-Clark Cemetery in River. Interment will follow. Friends may visit at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home on Sunday, July 5, 2026, from 5 P.M. until 8 P.M.
