Obituary

Troy Lewis Music, age 75, of Wittensville, KY, passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at Paintsville ARH Hospital.

He was born on January 18, 1951, in Logan, West Virginia, to Homer and Marie Music.

In addition to his parents, Troy is preceded in death by his grandson, Gavin Lane and one brother, John Homer.

Troy is survived by his loving wife of 55 ½ years, Sonja Ganell Vanhoose Music: one son, Charles Arthur (Amy) of Wittensville, KY and two Grandpups Sophie and Charlie.

He is also survived by two brothers: Herbert Ray (Norma) of Rockhouse, KY; Clarence Edward (Jodie) of Oil Springs, KY; one nephew, Herbert Ray II of North Carolina; two nieces: Jackie of Rockhouse, KY; and Nikki Salsbury of Oil Springs, KY; two great nieces: Jordan and Maddie; four great nephews: Jett, Ethan, Nash and Maddox.

During the first revival held at Tom's Creek Freewill Baptist Church on November 23, 1973, Troy was saved under the preaching of James Kelly Caudill.

During his 52 years as a member Troy served as an usher, Sunday School Superintendent, and labored in the construction of the church sanctuary.

Troy worked 36 ½ years in the under ground deep mines until retiring in 2007.

In August 2008, Troy joined the Christian Motorcyclist Association's Servants Team and helped fellow motorcyclists in need.  This led to new opportunities to share the gospel with those who have not heard it.

Troy's passion for motorcycling led him and other association members to attend the Little Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in western Kentucky for several years.  Here he served as a "Gate Keeper" and any opportunity to share his faith in the Lord with other motorcycle enthusiasts.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 15th, 2026 at 2:00pm at the Tom's Creek Freewill Baptist Church, Nippa, Kentucky, with James Kelly Caudill officiating.
