Usama Abbas "Al" Alshalchy, age 89, of Port Orange, Florida, passed away Monday, April 12, 2021 at Halifax Health Medical Center.

Al was born December 27, 1931 in Baghdad, Iraq, son of the late Abbas Alshalchy and Jamela Alaman Alshalchy. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brother-in-laws, Roger Willis Castle, Allen Castle and Larry Castle, two sister-in-laws, Pat Castle and Shirley Castle and two brothers, Zahair Alshalchy and Kias Alshalchy.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Linda Castle Alshalchy; one son, Laith Allen Alshalchy; one daughter, Jamie Manke; one grandson, Brandon Nicholas Manke; four sister-in-laws, Louise (John) McGowan of Cleveland, Tennessee, Betty (Wayne) Morgan of Prestonsburg, Kentucky, Malta (Gene) Roberts of Greenup, Kentucky and Debbie (Wayne) Price of Paintsville, Kentucky; and four brother-in-laws, James "Jimmy" Castle, Jr. of Paintsville, Kentucky, Charles "Chuck" (Jennifer) Castle of Jacksonville, Florida, Robert "Bob" Castle of Thelma, Kentucky, Willian "Bill" (Johnda) Castle of Thelma, Kentucky; one sister, Mawahib Nouri of England; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, 2021 in the Jones-Preston Funeral Chapel with Wayne Price and Gene Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville, Kentucky. Friends may visit the Jones-Preston Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, 2021.
