Burial: Halleck McCarty Cemetery, Low Gap, Oil Springs Kentucky.

Van Gail Cope, age 68, of Paintsville, Kentucky, passed away at Community Hospice Center, on Monday, October 14, 2024.

Van was born October 25, 1955, in Johnson County, Kentucky, the son of the late Elmer Van Cope and Earnestine Ross Cope. He is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Gaye McCarty Cope; one daughter, Sara Gayle Cope of Paintsville, Kentucky; and one sister, Vicky Dale Pennington of Flat Gap, Kentucky.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 17, 2024 in the Jones-Preston Funeral Chapel with Ronnie Spriggs officiating. Burial will follow at Halleck McCarty Cemetery, Low Gap, Oil Springs, Kentucky. Friends may visit the Jones-Preston Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 16, 2024 and 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 17, 2024.
