Verlin Castle, age 80, of Thealka, passed away Sunday afternoon, February 22, 2026, at Riverview Healthcare in Prestonsburg, KY.

He was born on November 15, 1945, in Johnson County to the late Ervin and Betty Bradley Castle. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Kathy Ann Castle, on December 13, 2025.

Survivors include one son, Brett (Shelly) Castle of Van Lear; two grandchildren: Aaron Castle (Madison Ison), Lauryn Castle; two great-grandchildren: Arlo and Lillian.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 1 P.M. Friday, February 27, 2026, in the chapel of the Jones-Preston Funeral Home with Larry Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Castle Family Cemetery at Boyd Branch in Thealka. Friends may visit at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home from 5 P.M. until 8 P.M. on Thursday, February 26, 2026, and on Friday from 11 A.M. until the time of funeral services at 1 P.M.
